From an Unexpected Closure to a New Beginning: Sky Candle Co. Opens in South Boston in Just 7 Days

We didn't plan to open in South Boston this fall. We had seven days to make it happen.

Sometimes small businesses don't get to choose when they have to change course.

After three incredible years in Boston's South End, Sky Candle Co. unexpectedly learned that major structural issues affecting our building would require us to leave our Dartmouth Street location. It wasn't something we planned for, budgeted for, or expected to happen in the middle of our busiest season.

But we knew one thing immediately:

We weren't ready to stop.

So we started searching for a new home and moved faster than we ever thought possible.

Seven Days. One Empty Space. One Very Big Goal.

When we found our new space on West Broadway in South Boston, it was essentially a blank canvas.

There was no finished candle bar.
No displays.
No merchandise on the shelves.
No signage.
No cozy Sky Candle Co. atmosphere.

Just an empty space and a very ambitious deadline.

We signed the lease and immediately went into full-on move mode.

We had seven days to transform the space into a functioning South Boston candle bar.

And somehow, we did it.

Our new home in Southie is officially open.

The new location gives us the opportunity to bring the Sky Candle Co. experience to a whole new neighborhood while keeping the things our customers have always loved about us.

Leaving our South End storefront wasn't easy.

That space became a huge part of Sky Candle Co.'s story. We met so many amazing customers there, celebrated milestones, hosted Candle Bar experiences and watched our little Boston business grow.

The South End will always have a piece of our heart.

But we're incredibly excited about what comes next.

South Boston feels like the right next chapter for Sky Candle Co. and we're excited to meet our new neighbors while welcoming back everyone who has supported us along the way.

Sky Candle Co. was founded in Boston with a simple idea: create beautiful, thoughtfully made home fragrance while giving back to the community and supporting causes close to our hearts.

Our candles are hand-poured in Boston in small batches using 100% American-grown soy wax, cotton wicks and carefully selected fragrance oils.

And our Candle Bar has always been about more than making a candle.

It's about making an experience.

That's what we wanted to bring to South Boston.
